Takedown the Tumor Nationals
Join us and the Akerson family from Valley, Nebraska for the first annual Takedown the Tumor Nationals youth wrestling tournament! The event will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021, in Omaha, Nebraska. The idea for the tournament came from the family of Kieran Akerson, a 12-year-old boy that was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December 2020. Kieran is a state champion wrestler who got started in the sport at age five. Following his tumor resection surgery and rehabilitation, Kieran was able to return to the mat this spring. The proceeds from the event will benefit Team Jack’s Childhood Brain Tumor Program at UNMC and Children’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
