The Inspiration Behind Takedown the Tumor Nationals
The idea for the tournament came from the family of Kieran Akerson, a 14-year-old boy that was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December 2020, at age 12. Kieran, from Valley, Nebraska, is a multi-time state champion wrestler who got started in the sport at age five. Following his tumor resection surgery and rehabilitation, Kieran was able to return to the mat this spring. The proceeds from the event will benefit Team Jack’s Childhood Brain Tumor Program at UNMC and Children’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Want to Wrestle for Free?
Wrestlers are given the opportunity to fundraise for the Team Jack Foundation using social fundraising or traditional cash/check collection. Each wrestler that raises $150 prior to the event will have their registration fee credited back to them. In addition, there are tons of prizes up for grabs for each fundraising level reached including Takedown swag and Hammer Perler camps!
