Team Jack Golf Classic Raises $63,000 for Childhood Brain Cancer Research

Jun 26, 2025 | Blog

The winning team was the Mark Vincent Pelini (MVP) Foundation team: Tim Marlowe, Jon Damkroger, Joe Broekemeier, Phil McNally, and Mike Guinane.

Omaha, NE – On Monday, June 23, the Team Jack Foundation hosted its 4th Annual Team Jack Golf Classic at Tiburon Golf Club in Omaha, Nebraska. Presented once again by Omaha Steaks, the event brought together a powerful lineup of supporters, athletes, and former Huskers, all united for a common cause: raising funds for childhood brain cancer research.

With perfect weather and a strong turnout, the event raised $63,000 to support the Foundation’s mission. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to presenting sponsor Omaha Steaks, as well as Hubka Safety Consulting, American Life, The MVP Foundation, and to all of our sponsors whose generous support helped make the day a success.

“This event continues to grow, and we are truly grateful for the incredible support behind it,” said Kylie Dockter, Executive Director of the Team Jack Foundation. “The continued momentum means even greater impact for children battling brain cancer — bringing us closer to better treatments, hope, and ultimately, a cure.”

This year’s Golf Classic was organized by a dedicated committee that included former Nebraska football standouts Rex Burkhead, Jeremiah Sirles, Kenny Bell, and Brent Qvale. Thanks to their leadership, more than 20 former Huskers returned to the course, each pairing up with a corporate foursome to form five-person teams.

The day kicked off with a longest drive contest featuring several of the Husker alumni. Rex Burkhead took home the title with a 327-yard drive into the wind. Raffle winner Russell Falconer received a stunning men’s watch, generously donated by Borsheims.

On the course, the Mark Vincent Pelini Foundation team earned top honors as the winning group. Not only did they excel in play, but they also served as the event’s Beverage Cart Sponsor, helping fuel the fun and camaraderie throughout the day.

Thank you to all the sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and supporters who continue to rally behind the mission. Your generosity brings us one step closer to creating a brighter future for children with brain cancer.

Jack’s passing is very devastating to many, but we want to carry on his legacy and his fight for pediatric brain cancer. Some of these treatment options are super old — it’s getting better, but it’s not there yet. It’s not good enough. People aren’t going to stop until there’s a cure and better treatment options for these kids.
